1. About these terms
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and SummaryApp (“SummaryApp”, “we”, “us” or “our”) and govern your access to and use of the SummaryApp iOS app, the SummaryApp web app, and related services (together, the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 16 years old (or the age of digital consent in your country, if higher) to use the Service. You are responsible for the information you provide when creating an account and for keeping your login credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity that happens under your account. Tell us promptly at support@summaryapp.world if you believe your account has been used without your permission.
3. What SummaryApp does
The Service lets you:
- record or import meetings, lectures, interviews and calls;
- generate an accurate, speaker-labelled transcript of each recording;
- produce a summary that highlights the decisions and action items from the conversation;
- use “Ask AI” to get answers that link back to the exact moment something was said;
- turn action items into a to-do list;
- connect Google Calendar or Microsoft Outlook, and import audio, video and PDF files;
- export transcripts and summaries to PDF or plain text; and
- keep everything in sync across iOS and the web.
We may add, change or remove features over time. We’ll try to give reasonable notice of material changes that negatively affect your use of the Service.
4. Recording consent and your responsibilities
Laws about recording conversations differ by country, state and situation. You are solely responsible for knowing and following the laws that apply to you, and for obtaining any consent required from the people you record. You agree to use the Service only for recordings you are legally permitted to make and process. You must not use the Service to record anyone unlawfully, to harass, or to violate anyone’s privacy or other rights.
5. Subscriptions, free trials and billing
Plans
SummaryApp offers a Free plan that includes 60 minutes of transcription per month, and paid Pro plans:
- Pro Weekly — $9.99 per week;
- Pro Monthly — $19.99 per month;
- Pro Yearly — $99.99 per year.
Prices are in US dollars and are the amounts actually charged.
Free trial
Paid plans start with a 3-day free trial unless stated otherwise at purchase. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your paid subscription begins automatically and you will be charged the plan price. To avoid being charged, cancel before the trial ends.
Auto-renewal
Paid subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period (weekly, monthly or yearly) at the then-current price, until you cancel. By subscribing, you authorise us or the applicable app store to charge your payment method for each renewal. We will charge the renewal within a reasonable period before or at the start of the new term, as permitted by the payment provider.
Payment through app stores
If you subscribe through the Apple App Store, billing, renewal and cancellation are handled by Apple under your Apple account settings, and Apple’s terms also apply. If you subscribe through the web, billing is handled by our payment processor.
Price changes
We may change subscription prices. If we do, the new price applies to renewals after we give you advance notice, and you can cancel before the change takes effect if you don’t agree.
6. Cancellation and refunds
You can cancel at any time, and cancellation stops future renewals. For how cancellation and refunds work — including how to cancel on iOS and on the web — see our Refund & Cancellation Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
7. Your content
You keep ownership of the recordings, files and other content you add to the Service (“Your Content”). You grant us a limited licence to host, process and display Your Content solely to operate and provide the Service to you — for example, to transcribe a recording, generate a summary, enable search, and sync it across your devices. We do not sell Your Content, and we do not use it to train our own general-purpose models.
8. AI processing and subprocessors
To turn audio into notes, the Service relies on trusted third-party AI providers that process Your Content on our behalf:
- Deepgram — speech-to-text transcription;
- Anthropic — summaries and “Ask AI” answers;
- Voyage — search across your recordings.
These providers act as our subprocessors. See our Privacy Policy for details on what is shared and how it is handled.
9. AI output — accuracy and your judgement
Transcripts, summaries, “Ask AI” answers and generated to-dos are produced by automated systems and may contain errors or omissions. They are provided to help you, not as a substitute for the original recording or your own judgement. Please review important output before relying on it, especially for legal, financial, medical or other consequential decisions.
10. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- break the law or infringe anyone’s rights when using the Service;
- record or upload content you don’t have the right to record or upload;
- attempt to disrupt, reverse engineer, overload or gain unauthorised access to the Service;
- resell or redistribute the Service, or use it to build a competing product; and
- upload malware or use the Service to harm others.
11. Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design and the SummaryApp name and logo, is owned by SummaryApp and protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights in our brand or software except the limited right to use the Service as described here.
12. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, non-infringement, and that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free or that AI output will be accurate or complete.
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, SummaryApp will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim, or US $50. Some jurisdictions don’t allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.
14. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold SummaryApp harmless from claims and expenses arising out of your misuse of the Service or your breach of these Terms, including claims that your recordings were made or used without the required consent.
15. Suspension and termination
You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms or use the Service in a way that creates risk or legal exposure. When your account is closed, we handle your data as described in our Privacy Policy.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we’ll update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
17. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which SummaryApp is established, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be handled by the competent courts of that jurisdiction, unless mandatory local law gives you the right to bring proceedings elsewhere.
